Amanda is an award-winning Producer/Director and shooting PD. She has produced, directed and shot intimate observational documentaries for BBC1, BBC2 & BBC4 including the series ONCE A SOLDIER, BREAKING POINT & MATERNITY; single films GIRLS ALLOWED, DAISY’S SECRET, A COUNTRY ESTATE, LONDON PEOPLE, WAR GRAVE and ASYLUM and the iconic presenter-led CHILD OF OUR TIME. She is the winner of a GRIERSON award for best documentary on a contemporary issue, ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY; best documentary series, the PRESS GUILD OF GREAT BRITAIN; best single documentary, GOLDEN HUGO and AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL awards and she is a BAFTA finalist. Her work has also been screened at film festivals throughout the world and her feature documentary CARRY GREENHAM HOME made with Beeban Kidron is a cult theatrical cinema release, most recently screened in Sheffield (2015) and London (2016).

At the BBC in the Documentaries Department for over 13 years she worked across a diverse range of subjects and has a proven track record in negotiating and securing access for high profile series. She is renowned for her sensitivity and ability to build strong relationships with contributors living through challenging personal situations.

Since leaving the BBC Amanda has been commissioned to make ground-breaking and popular series including BABIES BEHIND BARS for ITV and Discovery. Most recently she has been working as a shooting PD on The Hospital; the acclaimed 6-part observational documentary series currently transmitting on BBC2, 9pm on Wednesdays.

Alongside her broadcast work, Amanda has been producing and shooting CORPORATE VIDEOS for blue chip clients including specialist offshore filming in the North Sea for which she is FOET, CA/EBS & MIST trained. Since the early 90s, she has also been shooting and producing ‘Day in the Life’ films for top UK law firms. These films show the day to day lives of claimants in high value personal injury and medical negligence cases. She is a first tier expert for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Amanda enjoys the mix of corporate and broadcast work. She is equally happy working on single documentaries or as part of a shooting team on long term obs doc series.
